Braves (28-22)10100003X5120
W: Takashi Saito (1-2) L: Joel Hanrahan (1-1) S: Billy Wagner (7)

Another good game. %Ln%’s bad luck continued though. He pitched a good game, but left the game with it tied at 2. An RBI single by Chipper in the 8th broke the tie, and Heyward followed it up with two more RBIs on triple.

I probably wont be back until after today’s game is over, and I wanted to get the box score for last nights game up before that. You can follow the box score link for details on the same. The most important thing to know is that the Braves won and got his 1st win as a starter this season.

In other baseball news, congratulations to %Bn% for pitching the 20th perfect game in MLB history. I wish he would have done it for another team though.

Another good game. Lowe pitched 7 strong innings and Chipper had another good game going 2-5 with 3 RBI. David Ross also had a great game, starting with his 3 run double in the 1st.

All around good game. Pretty much everyone had at least one hit, including the guys that have been struggling lately. While big innings are exciting, they aren’t a sustainable way to win games. It was good to see the runs get spread out a bit.

Started the book I mentioned in the last post today. So far its pretty good. I’ll post later this weekend one of the topics thats been discussed to get your thoughts on it.

I’m probably going to keep the recaps short going forward, unless there is something really worth mentioning. Some of them might just be a box score too.

I just downloaded this on audio book. Has anyone else read it? If so, what are your thoughts?

I’ll keep y’all updated on what I think of it.

Game recap for 5/26/2010

by @ 4:46 pm.   Filed under braves, braves games, braves players
Braves (24-22)000010600771
Marlins (24-23)100010010382
W: Tommy Hanson (4-3) L: Burke Badenhop (0-5)

Sorry that the subject of this post is boring, but I’m running out of creative ways to say “Braves Win” or “Braves Lose.”

In case you were not aware, yesterday, as a birthday present to me, the Braves won 7-3. The game started off kind of rough. Hanson gave up a run in the 1st in addition to walking the bases loaded. The 2nd didn’t start out much better when he hit the first batter! After that he settled down though and looked much more like the Hanson we’re used too. After that the game wasn’t too exciting except for the 7th when the Braves scored 6 runs. I know that a pitchers duel can be fun to watch, but the excitement of that is spread out over an entire game. In terms of a rush of excitement, nothing beats a huge inning by your favorite team.

There were a other highlights from the game worth pointing out. First of all, Yunel Escobar finally had a good game. He was 2-3 with a walk,  RBI, and a run scored. Lets hope this is a sign he is finally breaking out of is slump.

%Bn% continued to do well going 2-4 and scoring twice. It’s no secret that I haven’t been a fan of him so far this year, but if he keeps playing like he has over the past few days, I might have to change that opinion.

Brian McCann also had a good night, going 2-4 with an RBI. He seems to be back on track now that he is wearing his glasses again.

With the win, and the Phillies’ loss, the Braves moved back into second place and are now only 2.5 games out!

Kawakami’s perfect game…

I had forgotten about this until someone just reminded me a few moments ago. In light of my last post I thought it would be worth sharing.

Kawakami has horrible luck

%Bn% has horrible luck. Granted, he has pitched a few bad games this year, but he hasn’t pitched anywhere near bad enough to be 0-7.

Tonight was yet another game that he pitched well enough to win, but didn’t get the run support. He only gave up 3 runs, but left with the team still trailing by 1. After the bullpen gave up a few more runs, any hope of a no decision was pretty much gone.

The Braves threatened in the top of the 9th, with driving in two runs. It wasn’t enough in the end though. Chipper tried to hit into a double play (that’s not really fair, his hustle down the line is the only reason it wasn’t one), and McCann followed up with a ground out to end the game.

I’m glad to say that recently we’ve been winning a lot more than we’ve been losing. Sadly last night was not one of those times. Nothing really to highlight from the game. Medlen pitched well again. In the end though it wasn’t enough and the Pirates won in the 10th inning when %Bn% hit a home run off %Bn%.

Another Win!

There were a few suspensful moments, but the Braves came out ahead in the end. Melky Cabrera also had a good game for once.

I also heard an interesting fact related to my last post. After being 14th in runs scored in the NL (25th MLB) for the month of April, the Braves are 1st for the month of May (4th MLB).  You can compare numbers at http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/batting/split/41/league/nl. Just change the split between April and May, or the league between NL and MLB.
